Venus S. Masselam Ph.D., M.S., CGP, LMFT is a Psychologist, Family Therapist, Consultant, and Supervisor with a private practice in Bethesda, MD. She has been an instructor at Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland. In addition she has presented workshops for the Washington School of Psychiatry, American Academy of Psychotherapists and many other organizations.
She began her professional career as a Mental Health Counselor working with adolescents. This experience led her to pursue a Ph.D. in Family Studies. At the same time Dr. Masselam became the Director of the Enterprise School. The combined effects of these two programs enabled her to gain a greater understanding of the developmental stages of the family as well as individuals in the family. She has seen clients from age six to eighty-two.
Some of her professional activities include being President of the Mid Atlantic Marriage and Family Division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy as well as serving as Conference Chair for the Mid-Atlantic Group Psychotherapy Society. Currently her focus is ‘the wonder years,’ the ages of fifty-five plus, which require navigation without clear societal or developmental guidelines.
